Description

On September 4, 2002, Transport Minister and Sabatia MP Musalia Mudavadi quit the race for KANU’s presidential nomination and declared his support for Uhuru Kenyatta at a press conference in Nairobi. “I am prepared to forego my bid for nomination and support the party chairman. My decision is based on the need to see KANU remain united. The approach taken by the Rainbow Alliance is not in the interest of the party,” he said. Here, Mr. Mudavadi (second right) is congratulated by Cabinet colleague Uhuru Kenyatta after the announcement. Looking on are, from left, Cabinet Ministers William Morogo, Chris Obure, Henry Kosgey and Shariff Nassir
