August 23, 2003: Kenya’s vice- president Michael Kijana Wamalwa dies at a London hospital aged 60 after having served in the position for only eight months plunging the nation into a two-week mourning period. Mr Wamwala, son of Senator William, was a gifted orator with command of the English language. He had previous served as Saboti Constituency MP and Chairman of Ford Kenya political party.
