Description

May 8, 1976: United Nations Secretary-General Mr. Kurt Waldheim (Right) pays President Mzee Jomo Kenyatta tribute for his inspiring leadership. The discussions between the two men, informed sources said later, touched on the question of White-ruled countries in southern Africa, with Mzee warning that the Ian Smith’s White regime in Rhodesia is set on a collision course unless it submitted to the wishes of the country’s African majority. Mzee said it was about time Smith was told to stop being stubborn adding that Smith’s attempts to perpetuate White rule were doomed to failure. The meeting took place at State House at Nakuru, where Mzee is on a working holiday.
