British official photograph issued by the Central Office of Information, London. The image shows Sir Tito G. Winyi IV, C.B.E., Omukama of Bunyoro Kitara. Born in 1886, he was educated at Mengo High School in Kampala and briefly served in the Public Works Department before joining the District Commissioner’s office in Bunyoro. He ascended to the throne in 1924 following the death of his brother. During the Second World War, he travelled extensively across East Africa in support of the war effort.
