Description

The Embu District Commissioner, Mr. Godfrey Mate (right, wearing glasses), officially opened the new Manyatta Departmental Post Office on Friday. The facility features 400 rental boxes and a manual telephone exchange serving 130 subscribers. Behind him is Mr. E. Lumwaji, Mount Kenya East Divisional Manager of the Kenya Posts and Telecommunications Corporation (KP & amp; TC). Mr. Mate announced plans for a 600-line automatic exchange to be built in Manyatta Division and addressed concerns raised by local KANU officials during Jamhuri Day, who had described the local administration as “colonial.” He praised KP & amp; TC for supporting the government’s rural development strategy by enhancing communications across divisional headquarters.
