Description

November 1997: The State withdraw charges of oathing, unlawful possession of firearm and ammunition and promoting warlike activities against presidential aspirant Koigi Wamwere (left) lawyer Mirugi Kariuki (center) and Molo ex-MP Njenga Mungai. Mr. Wamwere and Mr. Kariuki had also been charged with entering a security area and being in possession of seditious publications. The charges against Mr. Wamwere and Mr. Kariuki have been pending before Nakuru Chief Magistrate William Tuiyot since 1993 while those against Mr. Njenga dates back to 1992. The Rift Valley provincial principal state counsel, Mr. Oriri Onyango told Mr. Tuiyot he had been instructed to enter nolle prosequi in the charges.
